The trip to the Chevrolet Nomad Association Convention in North Carolina was a hot and very difficult trip that tested our patients!

The car has been driven as much as time allows to the some miles on her before heading off to the Chevrolet Nomad Association Convention strating July 11th.  The A/C blows at 36 degrees and works great in the heat! Final Tweeks and things are still taking place including getting rid of the prizm tape in the side chrome time left over from the '80's (hey that was the fashion then!).  Some pictures were taken in front of Bloom High School to recreate magazine article from 1982!  We plan on include more pics in the reincarnated form!

Don continues to work on the car to get all the little things ironed out before the convention.  Don & Devin worked to get the speedometer calibrated and finally got it accomplished after making a bunch of errors in getting the cal switches set right.  We also avoid a major accident when the brakes failed when Devin pulled into the drive after driving about 20 miles!  The front brake hose was not routed properly and got smashed against the frame and broke the line!  THANK YOU GOD for watching over us and saving a life by letting it occur in the driveway during a slow roll.  We had just been in a bunch of traffic.  Remember to check all routing.  I'll have some pics of the errors soon.

Went back in to get the new tailpipes made that fit better than the first ones.  Will report back after they are finished.

FINALLY got the Wheels & Tires installed to the delight of Don and his friends (they would not stop razin' him to get the right wheels on the car!  They all gave him the thumbs up when he drove by!  See Wheels & Tires page for the details!  Pictures to follow.

Working on the Interior and car in general to iron out details and and work out small issues.  Devin is still working out tire sizes too make sure things are not too small in the back wheel well considering how big they.  Just don't want that looking like a pair of roller skates!

Right now the plan is to go with America Racing "HOPSTER" wheels but still trying to decide between 16x8 & 17x8 wheels.  Tire size is also the issue as stated above, looking to go with BF Goodrich KDW tires but they may not be large enough in the back to fill the wheel well.

Still working out the fine details to finish off the interior.  There is some mior wiring to finish (interior underdash lights, lighted dimming mirror, cruise switch & calibration, speedo calibration, underhood lights, etc).

Steering wheel???  would love to have an early Chevy style wheel but have not found any yet to match up to column in car.  American Retro has a 15"  '55  steering wheel that could be a good match but at $360+ it is real expensive...??  Painted Tan and covered in leather it could be real cool!  Keep looking!!  Got any Ideas? Let Us Know!

LOOKING for the proper wheels.  Would like a great set of vintage style wheels and we are presently searching for the best match!  This is not easy!  No billets please!!!!

Don underwent 6 hours of surgery to remove 5% of his right kidney that was cancerous.  He took a little while to get back on his feet but he is now trying to get now bust out of the house!  Well it is tough to keep a good man down!  He is regaining his strength and get back on his car!!!  Thanks for all those that said a prayers for my dad that really help him through the ordeal!

26May03
Much of the windows (no windshield) and trim, bumpers, tailgate, exterior chrome, and weather stripping has been installed.  Don also got the power windows installed.
Devin spent the long memorial weekend getting the car wired up using the American Autowire '55 Classic Update wiring harness installed.  Additional wiring, battery, elec fans, & other extras, still need to be wired.  Ternimations at the front and rear along with the engine hook-up need to be completed.  The hard work is done but there is still much to go.  Dash is wired except for the indicator lights (turn, brights, etc).
